Quit top for my student teacher

I have a student teacher this semester- Sarah.  She's awesome and will make a good teacher ( that is if she still decides to teach after dealing with some of my ---how shall I say--- more challenging  students- and we have many).  She has about a month left and I thought I'd make her a quilt as a present when she's done student teaching.  I've been collecting vintage sheets now for a while and since Sarah's really girl, I thought I might make her a cute little quilt from my vintage sheet collection.  I originally just cut up a bunch of 3 inch squares and wasn't sure what I was going to do, but I think it came out really cute.  Now I just have to pick a sheet for the back and quilt it.

Vintage Sheet Quilt #1

My first vintage sheet quilt.  I used a tutorial from the Missouri Star Quilt Company to do it.  It's so much fun and so easy.  I haven't decided yet how much bigger I'm going to make it. I had one pattern sheet and there were a couple of paint splatters in a few spaces and I wondered if I'd have enough- them luck be in on Presidents Day, Savers was having 50% off on all clothes and household items and I found  another exact sheet I needed.  I was so excited.  Savers is the bomb!

WIP

I haven't posted anything new lately because they are baby shower gifts.  Don't want the mommies to see them.  As soon as I give them as presents I can post them.  They are really cute and can't wait for you to see them.

Wimberly Quilt Retreat

This weekend some of the girls from the Modern Quilt Guild went to the Wimberly Quilt Ranch for a Retreat.  It was awesome.  First off, I took the day off on Friday-sooo BONUS!!  I had along list of things I wanted to work on:
1.  Carpenter Quilt Pattern Top Done

2.  Baby Top for a friend of Mine (I didn't have it on my list of things to do, but I got inspired and did the top and the back.  It's ready to go) I'd take a picture, but don't want her to see it if she looks at my blog.
3. Eleanor Burns Turnover Twist- quilt back ( It's sort of done.  Mom already pieced the front and I liked the pattern and fabric so she gave it to me- I just have to put the back together. ) I have parts of it done, but needed more tan for the rest of the fabric.
4.  Continue to work on my Freebird Blocks.- I got about 20 more made.  I only have about 40 or so to go.
5.  Baby gifts for a friend of mine (Can't show a picture in case she views my blog)
6.  Virginia Tech Blocks- I didn't get to these. 
7.  Swoon- I didn't get to these .

It was a very productive weekend.  My back hurts like the dickens.  Although we have this little back massager machine called a Dolphin:

This little machine is the most AWESOME thing ever!! I have to get me one.

Mom's Chrismtas Present 2011

This was a Quilt I made for mom for Christmas 2011.

WIP- for Quilt Retreat

Next weekend I'm going to a quilt retreat with my sister Laura and our friends from the Austin Modern Quilt Guild.  I'm so excited.

Here is a list of the projects I've either started, or will be working on:

I'm going to be doing a large one using a layer cake Laura gave me for my birthday so it's going to be huge!

2.  Finish working on my square blocks using Moda FreeBird.

3.  Baby Burp clothes
4.  Start 12 inch clocks in orange, maroon, white, and Virginia Tech Fabric for a Virginia Tech Quilt
5.  Sew Back for an Elenor Burns quilt top my mom gave to me.
6.  Sew a back for my New Wave Quilt
    7.  Swoon Quilt- Not sure what fabric I'm going to do for it yet- Maybe some Denyse Schmidt.
